Use a Ten Year Journal to Track Your Life Events
66Write Just 5 Lines a Day
Would you like to journal every day but you just don't have time? The Ten Year Journal is excellent for folks like us -- we like the idea of journaling, but our schedules just don't seem to allow time for it!
The format of the 10 year journal requires only that you write 5 lines a day every day for ten years. There is extra space at the back if you have a special occasion or feel particularly prolific one day. Each page includes 10 years of the same date on the same page. So if you write 5 lines on January 1, 2010, you will see it again when you write on that page in 2011, 2012, 2013.
My journal is over 6 years old now, and it is such fun to see where I was every day in the years past. I recommend that you try this form of journaling for at least two years -- you will quickly become addicted to your little 5 lines a day -- and your journal becomes a treasure!
Ten Year Journal
Christmas Memories
How to Remember Important Dates
Our son-in-law was seriously ill one year -- those were really scary days for all of us. When I read an old journal note of a step to recovery (out of ICU - Hurray!), a victory (going home from the hospital today!), or a note of prayer after an all night vigil, I pause to be thankful. I usually send an email to my daughter "remember where you were on this day in 2003? Take a moment to be grateful."
It's good to be reminded we have "walked through the valley" and survived. These are faith builders for me.
Goal Setting Notes
Goal Setting
Every year I post my goals for the year in my Ten Year Journal. This provides a permanent record for me -- my goals, my successes, my notes about my progress.
When I write my goals in my journal, I know I won't lose them, and they are readily available for review each day!
I also note my feelings at the end of the year, right there with my goals, so that I can quickly review my personal and business growth.
Special Reminders
Your Ten Year Journal also includes that all important birthday and anniversary list, an address book, and a spot for medical notes.
You can easily see that this one book for journaling will quickly become one of the most important treasures in your home -- and it is a beautiful gift -- for just about anyone. One year I gave the Ten Year Journal to a friend who had remarried in her 60's. She and her husband have spent their first together traveling around the world. She often reminds me that their journal is in a prominent place in their home, and that they have recorded each and every wonderful adventure together -- and they both write in it!
Make a commitment to yourself -- journal this year! It does not matter when you begin. You can always go back and fill in important information and special days. The important thing is to do it - make an effort to start journaling the easy way. You will be so glad you did this!

First, I have to convince myself that I will live 10 more years. Then I have to remember where I put my journal. Then I have to actually write in it. I might be doomed. Great ideas!
