Rubber Band Animals - Great gift for children!
65Dinosaur Rubber Bands
Silly Bands are Popular Among the Elementary Set
The latest fad among the elementary set is rubber band animals, or silly bands. Children are often seen with 10-20 of these bands on their arms. They collect them, swap them, trade them, play with them, and wear them everywhere!
Our 6 and 7 year old grandchildren are quick to report exactly how many silly bands they have and exactly which animals they own. They can tell us who they traded with and the details of each big transaction!
Collecting silly bands, wearing them and trading them seems to me to be an innocent way to introduce children to the joys of collections. Some schools do not agree. How do you feel about silly bands?

Hmmm...seems like the bands are stretching out everywhere! I just learned about them yesterday.
My kids are grown and I don't have grandkids yet, but I'd certainly not frown upon a silly band collection. The teacher in me sees lots of educational uses for them, in fact. I think they're as clever as they are cute!
My kids didn't get into these at first, until a friend gave them each one. That's all it took, now they have fun with them like their peers! I like all the varieties you chose here!
These Silly Bandz seem innocent enough if the children don't take them too seriously. I've heard of kids getting them on too tight and causing circulation problems. I've also heard of kids being rejected at playtime if they didn't have enough of these rubber bands on their arm. My goodness! Seems some good old fashioned parenting would be in order...to teach kids that these are supposed to be fun and not used to be mean.
I've seen these at the store, but I don't think the craze has hit my son's elementary school yet. A silly craze maybe, but no sillier than pet rocks or friendship bracelets. I'll expect my 2nd grader to ask for these by Christmas time!
My children have these and really love them. They seem to be a nice thing to give between friends.

We picked up our grandson from school one day to go to the lake at the park and hike a bit. His arm was loaded down with these "silly" rubber bands. All kinds of animals and other things shaped from rubber bands! I found myself amused and enthralled, just like the children are, by these simple and fun items. We even tried throwing them in the water to get them to float on top. (They did if you threw them right.) ...Yes, he collects silly bands. :)
